Popular manga series

It’s nothing strange that a book recommendation blog will also recommend popular manga series as well. Isn’t that how a book blog should be?

Because of that, some of you may expect me to talk about these popular manga series on my blog too.

Yes, it’s true that my blog is about me recommending interesting manga, light novels, and nonfiction books besides me talking about behind the scene related to my books.

But sadly, I don’t have any intention to recommend these popular manga series at all on my blog.

Is it because I hate these popular manga series?

Of course, the answer is no. I have no reason to hate something just because it’s popular.

But I’m doing this for a specific reason.

What do I mean by popular manga series

Before we go any further, let me clarify what I mean by the popular manga series so then you and I are on the same page.

My definition of a popular manga series is rather simple: it’s the manga series where even non-manga fans know about its existence.

For instance, my late mother knew about Naruto even though she never watched any Naruto anime her entire life. So, forget about seeing her reading Naruto manga.

My late mother wasn’t an avid reader. Even if she was, she wouldn’t pick Naruto manga even if that was the only book left on this planet.

So, how in the world did she know about Naruto?

The reason why she knew about Naruto wasn’t because I was talking about Naruto to her nonstop. It was because she saw Naruto TV ads countless times while Naruto was still on the air.

That was how a non-manga and non-anime fans like my late mother knew about Naruto.

Same goes for my sister too. She knew about Detective Conan wasn’t because her children were talking about it nonstop. The reason why she knew about Detective Conan was the same reason as how my late mother knew Naruto.

And that is through the TV ads promoting the anime.

In a nutshell, just say the manga or anime name to these people. And they know what you’re referring to even if they only have a vague idea what kind of anime or manga is that.

You can also say the same thing about manga or anime like Doraemon and Crayon Shin-chan. They may not know exactly what these anime and manga are all about. But they know what you’re referring to when you mention these names to them.

So, why won’t I recommend these manga anyway?

Let me make it clear that I do enjoy reading these manga series just as much as anyone else. In fact, I do own some of them in print too.

If I enjoy reading these manga series, then why didn’t I recommend these manga series along with the other manga and light novels I read so far?

Well, my reason for that is simple: this is not the purpose of this blog.

Yes, it’s true that the majority part of my blog is about recommending manga, light novels, and nonfiction books that I find interesting.

But when it comes to these books, I prefer to recommend books that tend to slip under the radar.

Keep in mind that the books that I recommend are still popular. It’s just that it’s not as mainstream as the manga series like Naruto, Bleach, or anything equivalent.

These books are only appealing to a specific group of people, unlike these popular manga series where they’re appealing to the vast majority of people.

Besides, I have a feeling that you don’t want me to talk about these manga series anyway on my blog. You already heard enough of these manga series. And you expect to see series that you never come across before instead of these popular manga series.

While it’s true that I tend to recommend books that seem to slip under the radar, I do have a specific preference when it comes to what books that get recommended on my blog and what books that won’t make it here.

If you’re wondering about the kind of manga, light novels and nonfiction books that I enjoy and will recommend on my blog, you can read about it right here.

Will I not going to talk about these manga series on my blog?

I will still talk about these manga series on my blog. But not in a way where I’ll be introducing the manga.

If you’re already deep into the fandom, I’m sure that these manga series don’t need any introduction at all. You already know what these manga series are all about.

If I ever going to talk about these manga series, it’s probably something specific to the story or something unique like this post that I write about Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.

Who knows that I may change my tune down the road.

But for now, I won’t be writing about these manga series like how I’m introducing the non-mainstream titles on my blog.
