What in the world am I eating when I’m recommending this manga? Can’t it get any weirder than that?

Not going to lie that I had the same thought too when I came across this manga for the first time on MANGA Plus.

And it sure is a strange one too. But then again, there is plenty of manga series out there that I consider strange, not just this one.

Perhaps I’m already immune to it at this point, I guess.

If that’s what you think about the manga, then don’t dismiss Magilumiere Co. Ltd manga just yet.

I won’t go as far as saying that it’s the best manga you’ll ever read. But at the very least, you’ll find that the manga sure is fascinating enough to keep you reading.

And that should be worthy enough to recommend on my blog, don’t you think?

What Magilumiere Co. Ltd manga is all about

Here’s the book description that I got from MANGA Plus.

“Magical Girl”— A profession that undertakes the work of exterminating a kind of natural disaster called “Kaii.” Kana Sakuragi, a female college student who struggles with job hunting, is picked up by a magical girl startup company and…?! Magical Girl work-life starts now!

What got me to read the manga

It’s pretty much the same as most of the manga that I read on MANGA Plus – I read it because the manga is right there on MANGA Plus.

And the fact that the manga has the first few chapters uploaded makes it easier for me to read all of them in one fell swoop.

What makes Magilumiere Co. Ltd manga worth reading

When you think of a magical girl, you probably imagine a girl riding a broom and will cast a magic circle to defeat enemies.

Magilumiere Co. Ltd manga is similar to the magical girl concept that you’re familiar with.

But what makes the manga has its own spin on the magical girl is that rather than having a magical girl only exist in the fantasy world, we have a magical girl existing in the modern world instead.

Think of Magilumiere Co. Ltd manga as the modern iteration of a magical girl.

Rather than seeing a magical girl riding a normal broom, we’re seeing them riding an air bike that has a sleek design. You can think of the air bike mimicking the broom that you see the magical girl riding.

What’s more, the broom also comes with a different specification too, depending on the magical girls’ preference and how they use the broom.

It’s because of this reason that Kana’s broom has a different spec from Koshigaya’s broom since both of them have a specific way of how they utilize their broom.

And the magic circle that the magical girl uses to defeat the enemies? Well, you can achieve that with a computer program instead.

That’s where Nikoyama’s role comes in. He’s the one who programs the magic circles that Kana and Koshigaya need to defeat Kaii and transfers the magic circle to them through their broom.

This is what I love about the manga. You can replicate pretty much everything about the magical girl using the sci-fi elements.

What I didn’t expect when I read the manga

To be honest, I never thought that I would enjoy reading this manga. Just to let you know that I’m not into reading anything in the fantasy genre, let alone anything that has to do with the magical girl.

But for some reason, I enjoy reading this manga every time it comes out on MANGA Plus.

The fact that you can bring the magical girl concept to the modern world by recreating it with the sci-fi twists.

And let’s not forget that many of the companies who deploy the magical girls fall under the tech companies’ banner.

Yes, companies like Magilumiere are tech companies in the sense that they develop their own software to exterminate Kaii.

Heck, they even have a conference dedicated to the magical girl industry.

It’s amazing how a concept that tends to belong to the fantasy genre, for the most part, can have a similar resemblance to reality.

Well, I have a penchant for anything that overlaps the reality, even with something bizarre such as a magical girl.

Who should read the manga

If you’re looking for a manga that has a unique twist on the concept or trope that you’re already familiar with, then you’re going to enjoy reading this manga.

Just to be clear that the first few chapters of the manga can feel rather odd at first.

But hey, that seems to be the case with pretty much any manga that has a bizarre concept. It’s only a matter of how well it’s executed.

The good news is this manga did a good job when it comes to creating a unique spin on the magical girl concept.

So, you can rest assured on this part.
