Buy Me a Coffee Sekina Mayu Blog

For the longest time, I always want to create a Buy Me a Coffee page for this blog. It was only a couple of weeks ago that I finally took the plunge to create a Buy Me a Coffee page.

Just so you know that I used to have a similar page on Patreon. It’s just that the initial purpose of the Patreon page was to get people to support my writing.

It was only after a year or two that I decided to make a switch to wanting people to support this blog on Patreon.

And guess what?

Even after making the switch, I still didn’t actively promote my Patreon page.

Why I never mentioned anything about my Patreon page

The reason behind the lack of promotion for my Patreon page was simple – I wasn’t so sure if people would want to support this blog on Patreon.

Well, I can always go by the guts and did what Amanda Palmer always encourages what every creator should do – just ask.

Sure, I can be gutsy whenever I need to. But for some reason, I chicken out when it comes to asking people to support this blog.

Thus, the lack of mention about my Patreon page.

I’m fine with doing shameless plugins for my books all over the blog. Although I have to say that it took me some time to finally warming up with the idea of promoting my books all over the blog posts.

You can say that I’m having a Persona-style change of heart when I decided to start a page on Buy Me a Coffee.

Yes, it feels strange for me to ask anyone who reads this blog for support.

But if you do enjoy reading this blog and would like me to keep going, it will be great if you can support this blog through my Buy Me a Coffee page.

The reason behind my decision to start a Buy Me a Coffee page for this blog

I only have one reason why I wanted to start a Buy Me a Coffee page for this blog. And that is to get paid for the time I spend producing content for this blog.

Believe it or not, it took me hours just to put around 1000 words of a blog post. And you can bet that it will be a lot longer for the blog post that is more than 1500 words.

There are times when my writing flows smoothly and doesn’t require much editing. The only thing left for me to do is to fix the grammatical errors which I depend heavily on Grammarly to do the job.

But for the most part, I struggle to write even the first paragraph. It was only after writing the first few crappy sentences that I finally get myself in the state of flow and write something worth publishing.

Even that took me around one hour or so to be in my creative zone. That is if I’m lucky enough to be in the zone within an hour.

If I’m not lucky on that day? Then I will have to continue writing the next day.

Added with editing, formatting, posting the post on social media, and doing the prep work for the next week’s post, it takes me around five to six hours and sometimes longer to complete.

Of course, I didn’t do everything in one day. But suffice it to say that it takes me hours just to maintain a weekly schedule for this blog even if I already divided the tasks in a few days.

Yes, I’m a thriller and suspense author. So, blogging should come easy for me.

But that’s not the case at all. I find that writing a blog post is just as hard as writing a book.

And it takes so much time and effort to be consistent with the blog’s weekly publishing schedule.

Being a blogger may only be the other hat that I’m wearing besides being an author. But it’s still important for me to treat this blog like a big publication out there.

This is what a pro does. And that’s what I’m aiming for.

Your support means the world to me

With that said, consider supporting me on Buy Me a Coffee if you find this blog useful or interesting.

Your support can help me to continue recommending more books and discuss the books that I already recommended on my blog.

You can choose to support me with a one-time payment of $5. Or you can support me monthly starting from $3 per month or annually starting from $30 per year.

On top of that, you can choose to pay me using PayPal, credit card, Google Pay, and Apple Pay. You have many different ways to pay me, not just PayPal and credit card.

This is the reason why I prefer Buy Me a Coffee over Patreon.

You can choose to support me one-time, monthly, or even annually if you feel generous. I can’t do the same on Patreon since I only have the option to charge monthly or per creation.

Having so many payment options help too since I know that not everyone has PayPal and a credit card.

Where’s the link again?

Miss the link the next time you visit my blog? You can always find the link to my Buy Me a Coffee page at the end of every blog post and also on my blog sidebar.

You can also click on the floating coffee cup on this website to get started too.

Should I mention that I appreciate the floating coffee cup that you can see everywhere on this website?

To be honest, I don’t remember seeing the Patreon WordPress plugin having such features. That’s another reason why I prefer Buy Me a Coffee over Patreon even more.

Other ways to support me

Apart from supporting me on Buy Me a Coffee, you can also support me by buying my books directly from me through my Payhip store.

Yes, my books are also available at your favorite place to buy books online. But I will receive more money when you buy my books through my Payhip store since I only need to pay a small processing fee to Payhip as opposed to 30% or more to Amazon and other ebook aggregators.

And let’s not forget that I also have to forfeit another 30% of my book sales to the IRS since my country doesn’t have any treaty with the US.

That means I receive even less money as a result. It’s because of this reason I highly encourage you to buy any of my books directly from me.

Here’s the link to my Payhip store if you’re interested in buying any of my books:

Don’t forget to use the coupon code SEKINAMAYUBLOG during checkout to receive 25% off on your order.

Don’t feel like buying my books but still want to support my blog?

You can also do that by buying anything that I recommend on this blog through my affiliate links.

Sure, the commissions aren’t that big. But I will still be able to meet the payment threshold if enough people are buying through my affiliate links every single month.

I will have a dedicated post each month compiling offers from these websites that I have affiliations with.

So, be sure to have a look at these posts since they will be updated whenever they have a new offer.

Thank you in advance

It doesn’t matter whether you choose to support me on Buy Me a Coffee or buying my books directly from me, I’m grateful for your support.

But if you do decide to support me by buying my books or anything through my affiliate links, please let me know in the comment so then I can thank you.

That’s the least I can do for those who want to support me through other means.
