Hero Organization?
That sounds like the rip-off version of My Hero Academia but with a mecha twist.
Okay, I don’t blame you for thinking that way, considering the title.
But don’t let the title fool you, thinking we have another hero manga like My Hero Academia.
And the story is nothing like One Punch Man either only because these people are operating under one government body.
All I can say without spoiling too much is that the manga is nothing like what you think.
So don’t dismiss this manga just yet.
For all you know, it can be another manga that you’re so looking forward to every single week.
What Hero Organization is all about
Here’s the description that I got from MANGA Plus.
In a near-future where humanity stands on the edge of extinction, we turn our gaze to the stars. But in the depths of space, a new menace looms—the ‘Star Beasts.’ To combat these creatures, warriors donning mechanical armor emerge as humanity’s last hope. Prepare yourself for a groundbreaking mecha action saga, where breathtaking visuals meet an expansive universe. The battle for survival starts now!
What got me to read the manga
Like most people, I happened to read the manga because it was a new manga at that time, and it was available for free on MANGA Plus.
That seems to be the case with pretty much every title I come across on MANGA Plus.
Will I ever consider reading the manga if I stumble upon this manga elsewhere?
Well, you bet I will, considering that I’m into the military-theme manga just as much as I’m into the thriller and suspense manga like Eiji.

What makes Hero Organization worth reading
Judging from the description, it’s hard to know what the manga is really about since it’s rather vague.
But the beginning of the premise is pretty heartwarming where we have Ryu Tyler, who gets the second chance of making his lifelong dream come true.
Doing so not only provides a better life for his son, Leonidas, but it can make his son proud of him, too.
If you want to become a real hero, then there’s no doubt you have to join the Hero Organization.
After all, that’s where you use a mechanical armor known as AIGIS to fight invaders known as Star Beasts.
If it sounds like Kaiju No.8, you’re not wrong about it, either, since Ryu and Kafka are similar in some ways.
But what makes this manga different is the harsh reality that hits Ryu after becoming the AIGIS pilot.
The fact they have to make do with what they have to fight the Star Beasts, with many of his comrades are either wounded or perished.
It’s far from what Ryu is being told, considering that the Hero Organization assures him they will never put civilians like Ryu in danger.
And let’s not forget they have to fight the Star Beasts in battered AIGIS units since they can’t get ahold of spare parts needed to fix the AIGIS.
But what makes it even more depressing is that people who join the organization as civilians are nothing but sacrificial pawns to keep the propaganda machine running.
Sadly, that is only the icing on the cake.
Labeling good people as terrorists, getting rid of people they deem a threat to keep the propaganda machine running smoothly.
And let’s not forget it’s hard to tell who are your friends or foes apart.
The story somehow depicts what we see in the real world.
If you want a story that has a huge dose of reality check, this manga has it all.
What I didn’t expect when I read the manga
There’s no doubt Ryu’s son, Leo, will play a crucial role at some point in the story.
But lo and behold, it doesn’t take that long for him to take center stage.
Here we are, thinking we get to see Ryu for another five or six chapters.
I won’t spoil for you what happened to Ryu that leads to his appearance being cut short in the story.
But judging from what you’ve learned thus far, I’m sure you can guess what happened to him eventually.
And it’s even more ironic when the people who seem like they have your best interest turn out to not even care about you at all.
Just to be clear these people do exist.
But it can still be heartbreaking to see something like this unfold in this manga.
Fortunately, our boy here isn’t gullible enough to believe everything he’s being told.
That makes the story even more interesting when he intends to crush these people after all the things they did to his father.
Who should read the manga
If military sci-fi manga with a large dose of reality check is your cup of tea, then there’s no doubt you may enjoy reading this manga.
Just don’t expect to see many comic reliefs in between since it barely has comic relief as far as I can tell.
Where to buy the Hero Organization manga
The English version of the manga has yet to get licensed for the digital and print format as I write this.
So, your only bet to read the manga for now is to read it online through MANGA Plus.
The first and the recent six chapters are free to read on the MANGA Plus website and app.
But you will need to upgrade to their premium plan if you want to read the chapters in between, though.
Keep in mind that the option to upgrade to the premium plan is only available on the app.
So, you will need to download the app if you want to upgrade to the premium plan.
