After such a long time, you’ve finally decided to get back into reading manga and light novels.
Maybe back then you have to leave the manga and light novel fandom behind due to the financial constraint. Or maybe you just don’t have the time for it and now you’re able to do that without having to feel guilty.
Regardless of your reason for stopping reading manga and light novels, I’m so glad that you’re finally back.
Getting back into reading manga and light novels once again
For many of us, it can be hard to get back into reading manga and light novels when you’ve been out of the loop for so long.
And it doesn’t help that there are tons of new manga and light novels coming out too. So, getting back into the fandom becomes a lot harder since the current environment is a lot different than the last time you left the fandom behind.
With so many new manga and light novels coming out, how can you get back into reading manga and light novels without feeling overwhelmed?
If that’s what you’re experiencing right now, here are my suggestions on getting back into the fandom.
Identify what kind of books you enjoy reading
This is a big one for me.
You can always ask people around to recommend you books that you should be reading. But none of these recommendations matter if you have no idea what kind of manga and light novels you enjoy reading.
Okay, maybe you tend to read anything and everything under the blue sky since there weren’t that many manga and light novels back then.
But with so many new manga and light novels coming out, it’s better for you to be clear on what kind of manga and light novels you enjoy reading.
Doing so will not only make it easier for you to get back into the fandom. But it will also spare yourself from feeling frustrated.
How many times do you ask your friends for a book recommendation only to find out that the book is falling flat on you?
If you’re clear on the kind of manga and light novels you enjoy reading, you don’t have to take every single book recommendations coming your way.
Sure, we tend to get drawn to the book because of the hype sometimes. But if it’s the kind of book that you enjoy reading, then why not?
I don’t see anything wrong with that.
Search for the manga and light novels
Now that you already know what kind of manga and light novels that you enjoy reading, it’s time for you to search for it high and low.
As always, the best way for you to do it is to search for the kind of manga and light novels you enjoy reading online.
Any online retailers will do. But I recommend you to have a look at Bookwalker instead. My reason for recommending Bookwalker is that it only sells manga and light novels. What’s more, you can buy the ebooks there regardless of where you live.
Of course, you can always go to the nearest bookstore to do the same thing. In fact, you can also go to your local library too if you’d like.
But I find that it’s much easier for you to find the kind of manga and light novels you want to read online rather than in the bookstore. Unlike fiction books, bookstores tend to organize manga and light novels according to the alphabetical order rather than based on genre.
Unless you already know the kind of manga and light novels you want to buy, it won’t be easy for you to find your next read in the bookstore.
Well, at least for me.
Follow bloggers or influencers who always recommend manga and light novels to read
Book bloggers, book influencers on Instagram and book YouTubers exist for a reason. And that is to recommend books that tend to slip under the radar.
Is it worth listening to their recommendations? Well, that will depend on what kind of manga and light novels you enjoy reading.
If you and the person who recommends books to you have more or less similar taste, then it’s worth listening to his or her suggestion. Otherwise, you may feel that this person has a bad taste in books only because this person’s taste in books doesn’t align with yours.
Not sure who you should follow when it comes to a consistent dose of a book recommendation?
