Spring 2020 anime

Wow, what happened to my Spring 2020 anime must-watch list? It seems that the list has become much shorter than the last season.

Okay, I won’t deny that there aren’t that many anime that I find interesting this season. But at the same time, I’m making a conscious decision to watch less anime and read more books.

Thus, my short Spring 2020 anime must-watch list. And I won’t be surprised at all that the list going forward will get much shorter than ever before.

If you’re wondering what other anime is coming out this season, then take a look at this list.

As always, my Spring 2020 anime must-watch list also serves as another way for me to discover new manga and light novels to read.

Keep reading if you’re wondering which anime for this season is my absolute favorite and also which one that will be added to my reading list.

Fugou Keiji Balance – UNLIMITED

Fugou Keiji Balance Unlimited

Some of you may not like the premise behind this anime since the story is about solving the problem with money.

Sure, the anime is being touted as solving the cases in an unconventional way. But it’s simply about using money as leverage here.

Yes, we’re talking about a police officer who is using money as a shortcut to solve the problem.

The suspect refused to talk? Shove them some money to their face and they’re talking at their own volition.

In a nutshell, this anime seems to indicate that you can solve any cases in less time if you have money as your bargaining chip.

To be honest, I do find the premise to be rather unsettling to me because we know well enough that not every problem can be solved with money alone.

But at the same time, I’m curious how the story will turn out in the end.

It’s hard to say how the story will unfold since the new episode for the anime was delayed due to COVID-19. I guess that we will have to wait until the anime resumes on July 16.

Since this anime is a novel adaptation, will I give it a try if the novel is licensed in English?

Well, that will depend on the story. I may give it a try if the story becomes so interesting as the story is progressing.

But for the time being, most likely no.

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai S2

 Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai S2

This is the anime that I’m so looking forward to watching every week. If you love comedy anime or you simply have no clue what you should be watching, then give this anime a try.

Of course, it’s better for you to watch the anime from the first season. But I’m sure that you’ll enjoy it because the first season was full of so many hilarious moments.

Thinking about reading the manga instead? Well, you can get the manga in any format you prefer on Amazon.

You can get the manga right here:

Will I be adding this manga to my reading list? Of course, the answer is yes!

Kakushigoto

Kakushigoto

If you watch this anime and finds that this anime has a similar resemblance to Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, joke-wise and art-wise, then you’re right. Kakushigoto is by the same mangaka for Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

Since it’s similar to Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei in many ways, then the jokes will always have satire aspects to it.

But unlike in Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, I do find the jokes in Kakushigoto is rather mild and much easier to relate back to the current issues and the pop culture in Japan.

In fact, the story in Kakushigoto seems heartwarming too. I can’t say for sure since the way that Hime describes in some part of the story makes me think that something bad is happening between her and her father.

It’s too early for me to say since it’s only a few episodes as I write this.

But suffice to say that Kakushigoto has a lot more to offer than just being purely satire. If you’re looking for something that is beyond satire, then Kakushigoto is something that is worth looking into.

The manga is also licensed in English too. It’s only available in digital format so far, though. It may get a print release if the sales for the digital version are good enough.

If you’re interested in getting the manga, you can get the manga right here on Amazon:

Can’t buy the manga on Amazon? You can also buy the manga on Bookwalker too. Here’s the link to the book page:

Will I be adding the manga to my reading list? Well, that will depend on how the ending of the anime turns out. But I am considering getting the manga because of how much I enjoy watching the anime and reading Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

Kitsutsuki Tanteidokoro

Kitsutsuki Tanteidokoro

Another anime featuring literary figures solving murder cases? Well, sign me up!

For some reason, the murder tends to happen in the brothel, though. Maybe we may get to see the murder that took place elsewhere. But for the first few episodes, the murder was taking place in the brothel.

This guy sure does love to frequent brothels a lot, huh?

Since the novel isn’t licensed in English, will I be getting one if it gets licensed?

Well, maybe.

Nami yo Kiitekure

Nami yo Kiitekure

Yes, I know that I steal this image from Anime News Network. So, forgive me for that. But hey, I just couldn’t find any image that is big enough for this blog post. So, I ended up taking the one from Anime News Network instead.

Putting that aside, I do find the anime to be rather interesting since it’s about putting a radio show. To be honest, I always thought that the radio show is the same regardless of where you live.

But after watching Nami yo Kiitekure, I do realize that the Japanese radio show is nothing like what I’ve ever seen before.

Reading listeners’ emails while being chased by a bear? Well, that’s interesting to me.

Thankfully, she’s not really reading the listeners’ emails in the wood alone all by herself until she came across a bear. This is what the radio show wants us to think it is.

Sure, it may seem over the top for some of us. Even the podcasts won’t go this far.

But at least that’s what it’s like for a Japanese radio show. It sure is over the top, but there’s no doubt that it’s entertaining at the same time too.

The manga is also available in English too, in case you’re interested in reading the manga as well. You can buy the manga right here on Amazon.

Buy Wave, Listen to Me on Amazon

Can’t buy the manga on Amazon? You can also buy the manga at Bookwalker too.

Will I be adding the manga to my reading list? Well, I will if the ending of the anime is leaving me hanging.

Shokugeki no Soma S5

Shokugeki no Soma S5

Some people who have been watching this anime from the first season seems to think that the story is going downhill.

And yet, here I am still watching Shokugeki no Soma to this day.

Well, I admit that the story seems to be rehashing the same formula where Soma and gang have to outwit and win against the people who are seeking a fight with them.

But what else do you expect from a cooking anime? You don’t expect the cooking anime to suddenly about the romance between the characters, do you?

Don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing wrong with putting the romantic feeling between the character. But the bread and butter of a cooking anime (no pun intended) are to wow people with their cooking prowess, which is what Shokugeki no Soma has been doing all this time.

I still find Shokugeki no Soma entertaining to watch. But if you’d like to give the anime, I recommend you to watch from the first season.

Yes, that seems a lot to many of us. But it’s much better for you to watch the anime from the beginning if you want to understand the story better.

Alternatively, you can also read the manga if you want to catch up to the latest season much faster.

If you’re thinking of reading the manga, you can get the manga on Amazon right here:

Buy Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma Vol.1 manga on Amazon

Will I be adding this manga to my reading list? The answer is no for the time being. But I will pick up the manga if they have no reason to continue the anime anymore.
