Spring 2024 Anime Blog Banner

Some of you must be wondering when you see my spring 2024 anime list. It seems strange that Kimetsu no Yaiba and Boku no Hero Academia are absent from the list.

What gives?

Did I stop watching the anime altogether?

If that’s your thought, then I assure you that the answer is no, I still watch them and will always do whenever there’s a new season.

The reason I didn’t include the anime in the list is that both of them seem to have a late start compared to the rest of the anime that comes out this season.

It reminded me of Shenmue anime where it got a late start and I almost forgot about its existence.

Even if I did include them in the list, I doubt I have anything much to say about them other than my usual advice on watching anime that continues from the previous season.

If you’re wondering what else is coming out this season, you can take a look at the list right here.

With that said, let’s have a look at which spring 2024 anime I’m currently watching.

My Spring 2024 anime must-watch list

Just like the last season, I try to keep my Spring 2024 anime list as short as possible considering that I no longer have time to watch a lot of anime like I used to.

While some of them are the continuation from the previous season, there’s a handful of them that caught me by surprise.

Which anime that caught me by surprise, you ask?

Well, you will need to have a look at the list to find out more.

Here are the anime that I’m currently watching this season.

Date a Live V

Date a Live V

From the title, you can tell this is the fifth season of Date a Live. And my advice still applies to this anime – you need to watch the anime from the beginning.

The story won’t make any sense to you if you jump straight to the fifth season.

Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru

Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru

Not going to lie this anime caught me by surprise. I never thought the anime would be this hilarious.

Well, who would have imagined that a golden apple that grows on their farm could turn them into the younger version of themselves but with the silver hair?

What’s more, some episodes are wholesome too, especially the ones that revolve around their grandchildren.

If you’re looking for a comedy slice-of-life anime to watch, then this is something you may find enjoyable to watch.

It’s unfortunate the manga has yet to be licensed in English as I write this.

But I won’t be surprised that it will get licensed soon once the anime is over.

Kaijuu 8-gou

Kaijuu 8-gou

It makes sense why I would watch this anime considering that I enjoy reading the manga. And it’s the manga that I recommend on my blog too.

What makes the premise interesting is that it revolves around a character who feels like he’s already way past the opportunity to join the Defense Force because of his age.

But thanks to the encouragement from his younger colleague who wanted to join the Defense Force, he decided to give it a shot again.

Of course, things become a hot mess for him when he turns into Kaijuu after he gets bitten by a Kaijuu bug.

Will he be able to join the Defense Force now that he can shape-shift into Kaijuu if he’s not careful?

If you’ve read the manga, then I’m sure you’ll know what fate awaits Kafka after that.

I can’t say for sure until which part of the story the anime adaptation will cover. But I highly recommend that you give this anime a try since the anime is as good as the manga.

And if you’re curious about the manga, you can read my post about it right here.

Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai

Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai

If Raven of the Inner Palace and The Apothecary Diaries had a baby, it would give birth to this anime.

Not only does the story revolve around a noble and the people that he governs who can shape-shift into a raven.

But the story revolves around the consorts too where those who will become the consort to the crown prince are bound to reap the benefit.

Well, at least the land where the consort is coming from, though.

Thankfully, we only see more of the typical political scuff than the bickering among the consorts.

But it’s amazing that I enjoy watching the anime despite how much I loathe the naivety of one of the consorts.

If you’re into historical fantasy stories like Raven of the Inner Palace and The Apothecary Diaries, then you may enjoy watching the anime.

It’s unfortunate that the manga isn’t available in English. But it may get one someday if the anime is popular enough for it to warrant the English release of the manga.

Shinigami Bocchan to Kuro Maid

Shinigami Bocchan to Kuro Maid

There’s nothing much for me to say about this anime other than to watch it from the beginning if you want to make sense of the story.

Yes, some of the episodes can pretty much stand on their own even if you jump straight into the current season right away.

But I don’t recommend you do that since the story can be confusing if you don’t watch it from the beginning.

Interested in reading the manga instead? You can get the manga right here on Amazon:

Will I be adding the manga to my list?

For the time being, the answer is no. But I may get my hands on the manga if it’s available at a discount.

Spice and Wolf (2024)

Spice and Wolf 2024

To be honest, I never thought we would get a brand-new anime for Spice and Wolf.

I can’t say for sure what causes the series to get the anime glow-up treatment.

But I’m guessing it may have something to do with the release of the Spice and Wolf audiobook.

Yes, the audiobook release is already old news at this point.

But if it helps with bringing attention to an old series like this, then I guess it doesn’t hurt to give the anime a makeover considering how old it is.

I can’t say how faithful the anime adaptation is since I’ve never read the light novel before.

And I can’t say much about the old anime either since I watched the anime many moons ago.

But if a story that revolves around trade and commerce sounds fascinating to you, then you can get the light novel in whichever format you prefer right here:

Buy Spice and Wolf light novel

As much as I enjoy watching the brand-new anime so far, I’m not sure if it’s something that I will consider adding to my reading list.

But I may have to read the light novel if we don’t get the anime beyond the first season.

Touken Ranbu Kai – Kyoden Moyuru Honnouji

Touken Ranbu Kai Kyoden Moyuru Honnouji

It’s no surprise this anime will be on the list considering how much I enjoy watching Touken Ranbu anime, even the Hanamaru one.

Yes, this anime will be enjoyable to watch if you already played the game before, or at least you already watched the Touken Ranbu anime that comes before it.

But you can jump straight to watching this anime if you’d like since the story does provide a simple explanation of what the premise is all about.

Out of many anime on the list, this is the only anime you can watch without having to watch the previous seasons.

Which Spring 2024 anime you’re watching?
